Floor General freezes a possession at the moment of decision and asks your player what they would do. It grades the answer against your system — and shows you, week by week, which reads your team has actually learned.
The gap
A player can run your offense perfectly in a walkthrough and still take the wrong shot in the fourth quarter, because the walkthrough never made them choose. Floor General is where they choose — hundreds of times, on their own phone, between practices.
How it works
Spacing, tempo, shot selection, the patterns you want and the ones you don't. This is the rulebook every question is graded against.
Archetypes describing what this player is now — and, on Pro, what they are developing into. Questions are built to fit the role.
A possession, frozen. Four options. Every answer comes back explained, not just marked right or wrong.
Accuracy by skill, by question type, over time — so tomorrow's practice targets the read your team is actually missing.
Why it can be trusted
Floor General does not guess. It evaluates the possession with a deterministic engine: the same situation always produces the same ranked reads, and every read arrives with the rule that produced it.
That matters for two reasons. Your players get an explanation they can argue with in film session, instead of a verdict. And you get consistency — the same question graded the same way in November and in March, so a change in the mastery board is a change in your team, not in the grader.
For coaches
Offensive and defensive structure, spacing and tempo rules, the patterns you reward and the ones you penalise. Every question your players see is graded against it. Free accounts train against the built-in modern pace-and-space philosophy; a custom one is a Pro feature.
Phase-by-phase actions that fit the roster you actually have — derived from your philosophy, not from a template library.
Assign the archetypes that describe what a player is today. On Pro, add the archetypes they are growing into, and their questions start pulling them toward that role.
Pick the players, pick the format, send it. Roles can be assigned before a player has even downloaded the app — when they join, the work you already did is waiting for them.
Accuracy broken out by skill and by question type, per player and across the squad, tracked over the season. It answers a question a box score cannot: which read are we still getting wrong?
Fill in an opponent's profile — how they defend, what they take away — and the engine generates decision scenarios against it. This is matchup preparation, not film review: it works from the profile you enter, and it is a Pro feature.
For players
A player joins with a code from their coach and gets their role in plain language: what they are, what the team needs from them, and what to work on. It prints, for the ones who want it on the fridge.
Then they take reps. Every answer is explained against the coach's own rules, and a glossary covers any term they haven't met yet. No basketball vocabulary is assumed.
And for you
Coaches get their own question set and their own accuracy breakdown. You can also step through a full possession one decision at a time and see the engine's ranked reads at every phase — which is the fastest way to find out whether the philosophy you wrote down is the one you actually coach.
